Drawing - Colored Pencil And Panpastel On Matboard
Description
This piece was done from a small black and white photo of my grandparents, Max and Celia, in front of the meat market/grocery store they owned in Washington, D.C. in the 40's-50's. My maiden name on their sign is actually spelled wrong (should be an "h" at the end not a "k"), but the sign maker gave them a discount instead of redoing it. After much thought, I decided to keep it the way it was. Wanting a sepia look, this was originally done using only light umber, dark umber, cream and eggshell colored pencils, but I decided it needed some "colorizing' much like they used to do with sepia photos. PanPastels worked just fine for that job!
